pWell
Geopressure can ruin your day and blow your drilling budget! Knowledge of pore pressure from real-time drilling data is critical for any drilling operation, both onshore, offshore, and especially in deep water.
Think you need to hire some over-priced consultants to monitor pressure for you? Think again!
Petrospec's pWell is innovative wellsite/desktop software designed to ensure successful drilling in areas of dangerous geopressure. With its sophisticated algorithmic design and flexibility, pWell gives YOU the most accurate formation pressure predictions possible, in real-time, at your desk and on your cell phone!
Using pWell, every LWD/MWD data point is incorporated into your analysis. Data are examined for water depth correction, porosity decay, and normal compaction trend. Petrospec's unique data inversion compensation enhancement significantly improves normal compaction trend recognition in deep water prospects.
Used in conjunction with Petrospec's GeoPressure Estimation Software (GPES), known pressure data can be incorporated into any pressure modeling procedure. The result is the highest quality real-time pressure prediction model available; abnormal pore pressure zones are delineated with pinpoint accuracy, delivered right to your desk or wireless web device.
pWell in an intranet application. It runs seamlessly right through your browser (Netscape or Internet Explorer). No matter what type of computer you use, modern innovative browser technology makes pWell truly platform independent.
LWD/MWD data is captured in real-time using the popular Well Information Transfer Standard (WITS). Once loaded, you have complete control over the processing method used for pressure estimation. Normal compaction trend, overburden gradient, pore pressure, and fracture gradient are automatically computed and displayed.
With pWell you can estimate pressure ahead of the bit simply by clicking in anywhere in the image. Pressure estimates ahead of the bit are shown as black squares in the image above. Casing points are shown as black triangles.
Pressure getting too high? Set an alarm.
If the estimated pore pressure rises above the alarm value, you are notified at your computer and on your cell phone (or pager) that a dangerous situation exists. The pore pressure alarm is shown as a vertical red line in track 2 of the image above. At left you can see the alarm as it appears on your cell phone's text window. Even if you don't have a text-enabled wireless device you can still receive pore pressure alarms. pWell can call you on any telephone and leave a voice message. Hear it now!
Now your technology is really working for you!
pWell can derive its normal compact trend from three distinct sources:
